The damage caused to HWY 12 in Hatteras is heart-wrenching. 2,500+ citizens are now stranded.

Editing to say: Go here for more photos—IT’S NOT PHOTOSHOPPED. And the citizens weren’t stranded, but more like cut off from automobile travel. Ferries can only get you so far though! Thanks y’all.

On the plus side, Pea Island is actually a freakin’ island again! Woo!
